ARGENTI NICCOLO’

Padova
Runner Up

TITLE: ANTICHI ABITANTI
SIZE: thirty-five elements in proportion with the one in the picture (from 5 to 200 cm), evenly placed in the park.
USED MATERIALS: Iron

The sculpture is composed in two parts: a reasoning on the relationship between past and future, between ancient and modern. The front part, an anthropomorphic figure with the appearance of a woman, embodies the extended humanity that advances blind and helpless towards the future. It represents the modern: what is and will be. It is anchored inexorably to its back, to its roots, which are composed in a rough piece of wood, stretched out, fixed, motionless and immutable like the past left behind. The ancient, the ancestral part, remains essential to determine the balance of the advancing figure, the strings support, hold back, stretched to create a rough musical instrument. The harmony and vibration given by the tension of these elements are determined only by the intangible union between past and future.

TITLE: ARMONIA ANCESTRALE
SIZE: 350x350x60 cm aprox.

Small iron creatures, almost invisible; They embody the spirit of the ancient inhabitants, hardworking and resistant, children of the earth, grown strong but still tied to the mother. A small community devolved to the growth of all, respecting the environment, a sort of warning for the future. At the same time these forged animals represent a monument to what could be lost with the abuse of resources, that is the native fauna, fragile like the forest that welcomes many living beings that call it: home.

CIRO AMOS FERRERO

Milano

TITLE: TORRE ICONICA
SIZE: 900x150x150 cm aprox.
USED MATERIALS: Iron

The work is designed considering especially the place and its history but also the material made available. The work represents a “symbol”, a tower inspired by the Venetian bell towers, it traces its contours and takes up its shape, with its grandeur highlights the presence of man in these difficult lands but at the same time underlines its abandonment. The image creates a silhouette, seen closely and as a skeleton (a solid and concrete structure that demonstrates the human work in an indefinite historical moment) seen from a distance creates a sort of illusion, the iron pipes seem lines drawn in nature (it is the spiritual part, it is an ideological design, the human beings symbols as a guide to future generations).

USED MATERIALS: Wodden logs and branches

Each landscape is not only what is seen in the here and now, but it is the product of its past, of the pedogenesis and of the people who have inhabited it, transforming it. It winds through space and time, participates in history. Everything is intimately connected, it is not disconnected; it is enclosed in the node, which intimately connects the earth, the roots, the trees and continues in the air.
